Plants need sleep too!

Here you see a leaf from a Ficus Daniella (Danielle in some places), a smaller version of the Ficus Moclame with braided canes. This leaf has accrued damage from lights being on 24 hours a day. Fortunately the leaves can still function as normal when they are taken out of that environment in a timely manner. Plants, like many creatures of this planet, have evolved to their conditions, like daytime and nighttime. They are not accustomed to having to absorb light constantly. Though they do not technically sleep, they still need rest from the sun or artificial lighting. At our office and warehouse we have plant stock on hand which receive light about eighteen hours every day. We allow six hours of rest time for all our plants to ensure they feel as alert and healthy as they look. You can find a more in depth analysis of lighting for plants here: https://homeguides.sfgate.com/24hour-light-schedule-bad-plants-95954.html
